TEAM

We believe that our staff are the most important part of our care home. In fact, they are the care home. Their work and energy provide the care, the atmosphere and the essence of what the Brookfield Nursing Home is. We respect and value our staff and by creating a family like team, we are able to create a caring and loving environment for all our residents.

We are proud to say that the majority of our staff have been with the home for over five years and we have a group of staff members, including the manager, who have been with us for more than 20 years. This loyal, professional and caring team work fantastically together and instinctively support each other in the care home.
We have very high standards in recruiting new team members as we know that only caring and committed people will become part of the team. We have a very relaxed yet efficient working environment where staff have earned our trust and are free to laugh and enjoy themselves in a challenging and demanding role. This ensures that the home has a great atmosphere and that staff are happy and supported to do the very best for our residents.
At Brookfield we currently employ approximately 40 members of staff including trained registered general nurses, senior care assistants, care assistants, domestics, cooks and administrative staff. All staff have Criminal Record Bureau checks and all new staff undertake an induction programme in accordance with Skills for Care, then go on to progress to complete an NVQ in Health and Social Care. Many of our care assistants are trained to NVQ level II and go on to achieve their level III. All staff are offered the opportunity to undertake all training necessary to further their development.
We have mandatory training that includes manual handling (for which we currently have five in-house qualified trainers) and we undergo continuous training for fire safety, infection control, health and safety, protection of vulnerable adults and all other training needs. Our staff have supervision training sessions with qualified staff every three months. These supervisory sessions are undertaken by the trained staff and are an opportunity for both trainer and carer to discuss any training needs they may have and to ensure best practice is used throughout the home.
